JOB SUMMARY: The Language Bank (TLB) is seeking an individual who is knowledgeable and experienced with the language translation and interpretation service in the US, and who possesses marketing skills. This individual must have demonstrated ability to secure new translation/interpretation customers. Beyond this, we are seeking an individual who is able to think strategically on how to grow TLB’s revenues in this market.
 
Compensation will be a combination of  basic wage ($11/hour) plus a bonus based on performance (the percentage of revenues that he/she will personally bring in) and will be subject to negotiation at the time of hiring. 
 
THE ORGANIZATION: Founded in 1987, The Language Bank is a translation and interpretation service in San Francisco that has been in continuous operation since then. Translation and interpretation services are provided in Southeast Asian languages (Vietnamese, Cambodian, Laotian), Chinese, Spanish, Korean, and Russian as well as in other languages via a pool of free lance consultants (contractors). Current clients are primarily in the government sector. As the market undergoes rapid changes in the need for translation and interpretation services, The Language Bank seeks to expand its scope of services and clientele. TLB is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Southeast Asian Community Center (SEACC), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (www.seaccusa.org).

SEACC Receives Grant from Bank of America

SEACC's Executive Director, Philip T. Nguyen, was happy to receive a $10,000 grant from Bank of America's foundation for our work with small businesses at a special award ceremony at bank's SF Chinatown branch on December 7, 2011.  Bank of America Community Development officer, Ximena Delgado, presented the check.  The bank has been long time supporter of SEACC's small business technical assistance and loan programs.

 

 
Backing Up Business, Building Up Community

Held on October 12, 2011, this event exemplifies vividly the theme of the Southeast Asian Community Center (SEACC)'s celebration of its 36th year of continuously providing services to the low-income, limited English, immigrant, and small business community in San Francisco and the Bay Area. 

As noted by SEACC's Executive Director -  Philip Nguyen, ".. Since 1975, more than 150,000 clients have walked through our agency’s doors for multiple social & healthcare related services, 2,000 businesses received  technical assistance, 250 businesses were provided microloans, 600 jobs were created, 1,500,000 pounds of dry foods and groceries were distributed free to low-income people in the neighborhood, to name just a few. In addition, SEACC has long been a leading advocate for the Southeast Asian Community nationwide and a key player in the transformation of the Tenderloin District of San Francisco into a more vibrant and livable community for families.". The event is a timely occasion to how our appreciation and gratitude to the support from all sources: from the government, the foundations, the corporations, the private companies and from thousands of individuals of all walks of life including an uncountable number of volunteer hours..."

Among more than 100 participants to the event were Claudio J. Cipollina - Senior Vice President of the Bank of America and Thao Nguyen, Vice President of Comerica Bank, who represent the two major supporters of SEACC. Guests included SF Public Defender Jeff Adachi, SF Supervisors Jane Kim and Eric Mar, Representative of Assemblywoman Nancy Pelosi, Representative of Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, and Representative of SF Assessor/Recorder Phil Ting, Charles Phan- owner of the Slanted Door Restaurant, John Nguyen- CEO of Imperial Investment, many community-based organizations, businesses, agencies together with clients, members of SEACC's Board, Staff and volunteers.
